The portion sizes at Cheesecake Factory are too large! Last night, I took my family and a friend to the new Cheeskecake Factory restaurant in Corte Madera. I ordered a salad and pasta while my wife ordered a sandwich, we ordered chicken fingers for my son and our friend ordered a chicken dish. My wife and I shared the large salad, which was delicious. When our entrees arrived, they were HUGE. My pasta dish could serve three people! All of us left with food to go because we couldn't finish our plates. We were never told that the portions would be obscenely large. If we knew that, we would have shared our orders and saved some money. That's what we will do in the future because the food was actually very good.

My suggestion to anyone going to Cheesecake Factory is: Share a dish or be prepared to have the rest of your meal the next day for lunch.

I saw a disturbing advertisement on television a few days ago: LG's refrigerator with a television in the door. What disturbed me was the zombie-like looks of the people staring at the refrigerator and that being promoted as a product that brings families together. THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING! In the advertisement, the people were not talking or interacting, they were staring at the refrigerator. Scary!

If you haven't seen it yet, check out Da Ali G Show on HBO! It is hilarious, at time a bit raunchy and off-color but the three characters, Ali G, Borat, and Bruno (all played by Sasha Baron Cohen) have me and my wife in stitches. I think that my wife has a crush on Borat ;)

I just got a new digital camera, the Panasonic FZ20. I have been using 35mm cameras for years and my wife has a 2 megapixel Canon A20. I chose the 5 megapixel FZ20 because of it's 12X Leica zoom with optical image stabilization. From my great experience with my Panasonic digital video camera, I knew that Panasonic and Leica knew how to put together a well-made product that takes great images. I also followed the Digital Photo Reivew website's Panasonic Talk Forum. I ordered it from Circuit City, the only place that carried them and a 1GB Kingmax SD card from NewEgg. I am very happy with it! Take a look at a few pictures that I took with it last weekend. I also created a forum on my website Charette.com to talk about the camera.

Name:Michael Scherotter
Location:Fairfax, California, United States

I was educated as an architect but I found my passion in software architecture and development. Many skills that I have learned in my architectural education have enabled me to excel at designing, building, and explaining software systems:

  • The ability to change scales and my point of view from the micro to the macro.
  • The ability to think in three dimensions and draw what I am visualizing.
  • The ability to organize and manage complex projects and systems.
  • Lateral thinking and creative problem solving.
